Each panel works with an inverter that converts the electricity from direct current (DC) into alternating current (AC)—the kind your home actually uses.
And yes, solar works in New England. Even on a cold, cloudy winter day, your panels can still produce electricity. That’s because they need light, not heat, to do their job. We use only high-performing Tier 1 panels backed by some of the best warranties and service agreements in the industry.
So even when the weather isn’t cooperating, your system is still putting the sun to work.
The Juice
So, what actually happens once those panels start soaking up the sunlight?
The diagram above gives you a simple look at the technology working behind the scenes. Your solar panels generate electricity, your home uses what it needs, and when your system produces more electricity than your home can use, the extra energy goes back to the grid.
That excess energy is then credited to your account.
In other words: your roof can make more than you need—and instead of letting that extra energy go to waste, you get credit for it.
